The Honorable Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Hon. P.Z. Maiwada gave the opening remark; where he thanked the participants for honoring the invitation. He emphasized that the need for the meeting was to ensure that we work together to fast track participatory budgeting process.
Kogi State is not insulated from happenings in the national economy, particularly the effects of recession in 2016 and the swift implementation of Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) by the Federal Government in coordination with the State Governments. The effects of this coordinated response exited the country from recession about 6 months after.

Let me start by thanking you all for honouring our invitation to this important Stakeholders interactive session despite your tight schedules. This meeting is important for two reasons. Firstly, we need to ensure that we work together to fast track our budgeting process in order to sustain and improve on all inclusive budgeting formulation and processes. There is no doubt that if we are on the same page, the State Budget will surely address the yearnings and aspirations of the citizens of our dear State.
Once again, I want to register my candid appreciation to you all, for honouring our invitation, and wishing us a very productive discussion.
The town-hall meeting on 2019 budget commenced today. One major step of ensuring that the 2019 budget reflect the aspiration of the people.
